GENERAL RULES OF PLAY and AMENDMENTS
ALL MATCHES SHOULD BE STARTED BY 7:15 pm play should be started no later than 7:30.
1. Teams will play as per schedule "Home" or "Away" 2. Home Team will write the lineup down first.
3. During play, making the 8-ball on the break is NOT an automatic win for the breaking player. The breaker may ask for a re-rack or have the 8-ball spotted and continue shooting. Should the breaker pocket the 8-ball and scratch the cue ball, it is NOT a loss: the incoming player now has the option of spotting the 8-ball or re-racking and assuming the break.
4. Push Shot (See WPBA Rule •6.7 Double Hit / Frozen Balls -- If the Cue Ball is frozen with object ball, its legal to push through cue ball. If there is separation between the balls, Less Than Chalk Width, you must attempt to avoid the double hit foul. 1. 2. Shoot at an angle not in direct line of the two balls. Suggest calling for a Referee to watch! Doable Hit on the Cue Ball will be a Foul!
5. Failing to call the pocket for the 8 ball will be considered a loss of game if called by the opponent. Must clearly communicate to your opponent when pocketing ALL balls especially the 8 ball. (Suggest patching anyone from the team can tell their player to mark the pocket.)
6. Each C Ranked player will be allowed 1 - one minute time out to converse with the captain or designated player. Only the Player may call the time out. The captain is not allowed to touch or place any balls and must be removed from the table area before the shot is executed. Failing to do so will result in a Foul.
7. Any side line coaching or interference: 1st a warning to the team, 2nd a foul, 3rd loss of game.
8. Slow Play Rule: You have on average 45 seconds to complete your shot. If slow play is suspected the opposing team must time the player and then give the Player/Captain a warning.
9. In the case a team is unable to field 4 or 5 players, the lineup will be filled out and the missing player will be marked as “No Show” in the 4th or 5th spot pending 16 or 25 game format. "No Show" player will be considered a 8 (10 ball count) or 10 (17 ball count) handicap for calculating the Team handicap - Only in Regular Season Play, the 3 or 4 remaining players will be able to sub in for the "NO Show" Player for rounds 1-5. Use the ( "8" 10 count) or (“10” 17 count) handicap for calculating team handicap per rounds 1-5. Player 1 will play for 4 (16 game) or 5 (25 game) “No Show” in Round 1, 2 for round 2, 3 for round 3, 4 for round 4 Last Round -- the opponent gets to pick one of the 4 or 3 players, to play that last game. Playoffs - No Show players will be considered a 10 Handicap and marked as a game loss 17-0 (17 Ball count) and 8 Handicap 10-0 (10 Ball count).
10. Handicaps will be applied during playoffs.
11. Handicaps apply and all new players without a posted cap will be started as per league minimum's. Any Handicap may be adjusted as the league sees fit to do so. Average Scores will be used to determine team HC. Example (10.2+9.3+7.4+5.1+6.9) = 38.9
If a shot may be in question of a FOUL, the League suggests you ask one of the captains to referee the shot. If no referee disputed shots will be called in favor of the shooter as per guidelines in the official 8 ball rules of play. Any disputes will be reviewed by the League and rulings will stand as final.
CAPTAINS DUTIES
1. The captain shall instruct his/her players as to all League rules and requirements. 2. The captain shall collect all player fees and submit them within the time period to the designated drop location. 3. Captains/teams will keep score and at the end of match sign the “Score Sheets” 4. Captains email the Score sheets and e transfer Fees. 5. All weekly fees must be paid in full and no later than 4 weeks from the scheduled date played or team points and pay outs will not be awarded until fees are paid in full. 6. The captain is the “representative” for the team and in the case of a dispute, will be required to be present during the review.
SCHEDULING AND OR RESCHEDULING
1. Schedules will be provided and posted ON OUR WEBSITE 2. In an emergency, opposing captains may also delay or reschedule their games by mutual consent. If teams can't come to agreement, the league will determine the outcome-- Rescheduled, Forfeit (6 points awarded) or Rule #4 3. When matches or matchups are not played, for whatever the reason, all fees due to the league must be paid by both teams to receive any further points. 4. Under extenuating circumstances, the league may schedule makeup games. The matches may be made up the next week or added on at the end of the season. In the case matches are unable to be played, both teams will be awarded 3 points. 5. The League may select an alternate site to play postponed matches.
TIED MATCHES & STANDINGS
1.Match Ties In Handicapped play ties can result. In League Play for all Match Formats the first tiebreaker to award 'Team' Points for any Match Round or for the overall, is games won. This is often the same tie breaker used for Team 'seeding' for all Play Offs. If still tied at the end of a Match in League Play, the second tiebreaker is the winning of an extra game played by one Player selected by each Team from amongst those who played in that Match. During playoff competition, if both teams are tied at the end of their match, the teams will play the last round over, as it stands on the score sheet to determine the winner. (Sudden death -- Total point on the tie breaker round wins the match) until a winner is decided. 2. All other tie breakers will be determined by Total Wins.
SUBSTITUTION RULE Substitutions of 'Spares' During a Match 1. Substitutions of 'Spares' for 'Starters' are permitted providing they are made at the start of each Round and providing that it will not result in the same two Players playing each other a second time. In the Round that they're 'subbing' in, the Substitute's 'Ball Count' Points Average is entered and used to compute the new total of the 'Ball Count' Points Averages of the Team to determine the new Team Handicap for that Match Round. Players listed as 'subs' in Roster Order spots #6 and #7 may change Roster Order positions in successive Rounds. Players listed as 'Starters' in spots #1 to #5, when they are 'subbed' out, must return to their original Roster Order position. 2. You are allowed to bring in one substitute player (player not on roster) during regular season play, but they are only allowed to play 15 games. 3. Substitute players (player not on roster) will not be allowed to play during playoffs. 4. All players must have a minimum of 5 match rounds and minimum of 20 games played to be eligible for playoffs. 5. Substitute players list will be provide and HC assigned
Airdrie FIFO Singles Pool League Match Rules, Guidelines & Bi-Laws GENERAL RULES OF PLAY: Effective August 16th, 2020
The following guidelines provides league structure for the maximum enjoyment of All players. At times the league may need to modify these guidelines, but will communicate prior to session starting.
Sportsmanship Guide & Considerations: Fair and Generous Behavior or Treatment of Others, Games give you a chance to excel, and if you're playing in good company you don't even mind if you lose because you had the enjoyment of the company during the course of the game. “True sportsmanship is…Knowing that you need your opponent because without him or her, there is no game. Acknowledging that your opponent holds the same deep-rooted aspirations and expectations as you. Knowing that, win or lose, you will walk away with pride. Always taking the high road. And always, always, always being a good sport.” In order to assure good sportsmanship, an individual may be expelled for poor sportsmanship or any good reason considered detrimental to the League. Any parties expelled may request a review from the League and findings shall be recognized as final.
Player Accountabilities: A player should be knowledgeable, as to all play rules, league rules and league requirements. Players will self referee and called in favor of the shooter as per guidelines in the official 8 ball rules of play. Any disputes will may be reviewed by the league and rulings will stand as final. The player shall submit fees within the established time period. Players are required to fill out entire scoresheet and submit using league established process. Player must exercise good sportsmanship. Player must notify opponent and league for any changes to scheduled matches. Player disputes, changes, questions and other, should be communicated to the league designated representative.
Start of Play and Clarifying Rules: All matches should be started as per league established times, unless arrangements are made with both players and/or league operators. Players determine "Home" or "Away" by lagging or unless agreed to flip of coin. Home Team player will start play by paying, racking their own and breaking. Alternate break play is in affect, as per scoresheet. All game rules will be played using the WPBA world rules. If slow play is suspected, the opposing player should provide a warning and if it continues may be considered as unsportsmanlike and the league will investigate.
Divisions, Matches, Scoring and Standings: League organizers will determine the division for each player, based on known ability and player input. A Division match is race to 7. B Division match is race to 5. C Division match is race to 4. Rankings, Divisions & Match races may be changed by the league and communicated prior to start of each session. Scoring --- 1 point for each game won, (3.5 "A', 2.5 "B", 2.0 "C") bonus points for a match win and ½ point awarded for every FEAT. Feat’s include (Break and Run/First Attempt/10-0) League standings will be determined by total points accumulated and posted on the website. If player’s points are equal at the end of the session, winner of their match’s will determine standing position, then total match wins and finally total game wins to break the tie.
Scheduling, Rescheduling and Forfeits: Schedule is a Round Robin and will be posted on website or league established location. League and opponent require 2-hour notice, if unable to make a match. In an emergency, (less than 2 hours) players may also delay or reschedule their games by mutual consent. If players can't come to agreement, the league will determine the outcome as per rescheduling, forfeit or other. League will provide 2 designated dates and times for makeup matches per session and then posted in the schedule. Under extenuating circumstances, the league may need to schedule makeup matches. The matches may be scheduled in another week/day or added on at the end of the session. In the case those matches are not played, both players will be awarded a split determined by the league. The League may select an alternate site to play any postponed, makeup or rescheduled matches. If league determines a player has forfeited a match, then the opponent/player will receive the match win (3) and number of game wins (1 per game) as per division requirement. If league determines that a player has 4 or more forfeited matches per session, all points awarded for and against are now void, as if the player didn’t exist.
Prize Money and Fees: Fees are required prior to session starting and should be no later than the 2nd week play, alternative arrangements must be made with league operators. Prize money will be split between the top half of each board with 1st, 2nd and 3rd receiving the highest percentages and so on. 100% of division fees will contribute to the prize fund, awards and any admin costs. Payout Example per division pending number of players: 1st =35%, 2nd =25%, 3rd =15%, 4th =10%, 5th =6%, 6th =5%, 7th =4%
